Four generations, one job site

Caladesi has been a family company since 1968. A look at the people, the trucks and the sign that started it.

Four generations of the Hinrichs family on a Caladesi site

Caladesi Construction and Development was founded in 1968 by Don Hinrichs in Largo, Florida. Today the company is led by the second generation, with the third and fourth already showing up on job sites and at company gatherings.

The photograph above brings all four generations together in one frame. It is a reminder that a family business is not only about the name on the door. It is about the people who learned the trade by watching the generation before them.

Where it began

The first office was a modest building on the east side of the bay, with a painted sign out front and a single truck in the lot. Within a few years the company had outgrown it, but the sign survived and still hangs in the office today.

Still family owned

Fifty-eight years later, ownership has never left the family. That continuity shapes how we work: we plan for buildings that will still be standing when the next generation is running the company.
